CUSTOM LOWATT

$2,299.00

The LOWATT is a careful reproduction of the amps made by Dave Reeves in the early 1970s. The tone stack is unique and different than the “FMV” controls found on most amplifiers, and has significantly more tonal range. These are relatively low gain amps with plenty of punch and headroom, and are great with pedals.

I LOVE THESE AMPS!!…and THIS COMPANY. I have never owned a HiWatt. Ive owned all kinds of vintage Plexi and Metal panel Marshalls, every boutique amp out there, etc. Came across one of the Hi-Tone Videos (check them out on YouTube!) and got curious. Emailed Hi-Tone and got wonderful, detailed, courteous responses from Clayton immediately (while he was camping!). Ordered a Hi-Tone Custom Lowatt and 1×12 Cabinet. Blown away at the quality and tone…a beautiful work of art that SOUNDS FANTASTIC. I get Marshall, Vox, and Fender Super Reverb like tones out of this thing as well!!! No kidding. The tone controls actually DO something and this thing has me playing more and more…cant turn it off. Super light. Super portable. Can gig with it, and Master Volume works so well….no tone loss down to suitable house volumes. This is a Class Company making bullet proof works of art. Thanks so much. Planning another purchase. PS: The 1×12″ cabs sound HUGE!!! Thank you Clayton and the Hi-Tone Family!

This review is long overdue. I have been playing my Hi-Tone Custom Lowatt for a little over a year now and I truly love it. I think it’s a great amp, and one that can be played at reasonable volume levels without losing the classic Hiwatt sound (a huge plus for me given that I’m in an apartment).

Overall, there isn’t much I can say about this company and the amplifiers they make that hasn’t been said before. Hi-Tone is making true Dave Reeves-era amplifiers in the 21st century. And the Lowatt really does sound like a Hiwatt that has been reduced down to 18 watts. This can potentially benefit players who wish to play Hiwatts and make their sound engineers happy at the same time. I love how my stratocasters sound through it, as the punchy mids really allow modulation effects-and others-to shine on (pun intended). And as to be expected the build quality is magnificent.

Mr. Clayton was very kind and courteous when I contacted him about the current wait times. It took mine a few months to arrive, as I know these last couple of years have been hard on the business. But I can honestly say it was worth the wait! I cannot recommend Hi-Tone more highly.

    Thanks again!
