The DR is a careful reproduction of the amps made by Dave Reeves in the early 1970s. The tone stack is unique and different than the “FMV” controls found on most amplifiers, and has significantly more tonal range. These are relatively low gain amps with plenty of punch and headroom, and are great with pedals.

- Custom OEM Partridge clone transformers made in Michigan by Heyboer Transformers
- 50 watts via 2 x EL34 Power Tubes
- 4 inputs (linkable)
- Controls: Normal Vol | Brill Vol | Bass | Treble | Middle | Presence | Master Volume
- Standard with premium quality Sozo capacitors, NOS Mustard capacitors are optional
- Standard with TAD premium selected tubes

I bought my Hi-Tone amp in 2015 and I absolutely love it. From the high quality cabinet construction to the over engineered wiring to the top-shelf components Clayton and the guys at Hi-Tone have their act dialed in. It has the big bold clean sound that you’d expect and of course it’s an ideal platform for pedals. I was worried that it would be too loud for the studio but to my surprise it really retains all the tone even at low volumes. I’m very happy with this amp and it’s been a staple in the my studio.

I’ve been rocking vintage style Marshalls for almost a decade, but as much as I love them I was also searching for something else that could compliment my Marshalls. Something that stayed cleaner, was less compressed and had a more in your face, big and bold midrange. Something cleaner, but still angry when pushed. That search led my to Hiwatt, and from there the hunt for the most authentic vintage replica was on!
I found Hi-Tone after a week of serious internet research, and upon further investigation quickly realized that Clayton and Mark were NOT playing around!!! They are PURLY motivated by making a 100% high quality reproduction of the real thing and not by profits, THAT I liked.
I’ve now had my DR50 for 5 months now and I’m totally blown away. It sounded EXACTLY like I imagined and the way it interacts with my guitars and pedals is really something else. It’s hard to get clean tones that sing, but not with the Hi-Tone, that I can tell you. This is a HUGE sounding amp, but also an amp I find easy to control as the master volume is very useful. This amp is so exciting to play and it sounds so organic, which is nice when todays pedal boards often contain digital pedals with computer emulations of delays and reverbs. This amp really adds some major mojo and vibe and I so glad I pulled the trigger and ordered. Clayton was dead on with his delivery date, and payment was easy. I would absolutely recommend both this stellar amp and the people behind this company.

Hands down, the BEST amp I’ve ever owned!! This thing loves all my pedals, and all my pedals love this amp. Truly the best of both worlds, as far as getting classic British AND American tones. I have other amps with me for session work, but, since I’ve had the Hi-Tone, none of them have even been out of their cases.
